The most delicious showdown of the year is here—the Calamari Festival Cook-Off 2024, brought to you by St Francis Tourism.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to dazzle the taste buds and out-cook the competition, then mark your calendars for Tuesday, 24 September 2024, at the Festival Grounds on Diana Crescent, St Francis Bay – the Calamari Capital of South Africa. The heat will be on from 11:00 to 13:00.
This culinary clash is a key event in the Calamari Festival and invites you to challenge your kitchen rivals in the Corporate Cook-Off. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a kitchen newbie, this is your chance to showcase your cooking prowess – and maybe even take home a special prize.
The competition will be judged by none other than celebrity chef Justin Bonello. Not only will he crown the culinary champion, but he’ll also treat attendees to a live cooking demonstration that’s sure to inspire and delight.
What’s on the menu?
Each team will be provided with fresh local calamari, a Spar voucher for additional ingredients, a gas stove, and serving dishes to bring your culinary masterpiece to life.
But the flavour flair is up to you. Don’t forget to bring your own table and décor to set the perfect scene, as well as any additional equipment you might need.
Tasters for all
As a contestant, you’ll also be serving up taster portions – because what’s a cook-off without the chance to sample the goods? Three taster portions will be sold for just R135, giving festival-goers the chance to vote with their taste buds.

Team entries are now open, and at an entrance fee of R250 per team, it’s a small price to pay for a shot at culinary glory. But hurry – spots are limited, and you don’t want to miss out on this tasty opportunity.
